"Unsolicited Article Guidelines"

General Guidelines:

-If you want to write an article for the Pursuit of Knowledge, it is preferred that you have good writing skills, and access to a spell checker and text editor. If there are too many grammatical or spelling mistakes the article may be rejected.

-All articles are reviewed for completeness, accuracy, relevancy and tastefulness. Any submission may be rejected for any reason whatsoever, including: foul language, racial slurs, unsubstantiated accusations, descriptions of inappropriate behavior and articles in bad taste.

-The editor will proofread the articles for style and content, and may correct spelling or grammar mistakes. The editor may also insert small notes as needed, generally to clarify or correct something.

-No work will be accepted without a working email address and complete legal (first and last) name.

-While it is not mandatory, it is suggested that you put at the beginning of the message header either [TOURNAMENT], [STRATEGY], [DECK], [ISSUE], [HUMOR] or [MISC].
*Articles that come in with the correct headers will be given priority over those articles that do not.*

-The preferred format for article submission is "TEXT", single-spaced (w/double-spacing between paragraphs). Lines should be no longer than 100 characters long. End each line with a carriage return (that's the "Enter" key). Articles are also accepted in HTML, Wordpad or Notepad, and MSWord 6.0 or *BELOW*.

Tournament Reports:

-At a minimum, all tournament reports must indicate the state/county/prefecture/province and general location of the tournament, i.e., "the Chicago suburbs at Dan's Comics" or "Le Havre, France". They must also state the tournament format (swiss, single-elim, etc) and number of participants in the tournament.

Deck Analysis & Listings:

-All deck submissions must provide a complete listing of all cards in the main deck, with full and correctly spelled card names (barring only a few widely-accepted and well-known abbreviations such as COP: Red, etc).

-At a minimum all decks must be Type 2 or Block (ALICE, MVW, TSE, etc), and basic strategy and/or winning mechanism.

-While not required, it is highly recommended that you explain the strategy of the deck by going as in-depth as you can. Explain what makes the deck different from other decks of this type, or what new type of deck yours is, if new. Identify which other major deck archetypes your deck has trouble with or beats, and describe the playtesting and refining process.
*Articles with complete and coherent strategy outlines will be given priority for posting over those that do not.

Admin:

-Articles should be sent to Urza4@netscape.net.

-Urza is the final determiner of which articles are posted, and which are not.

-The "Unsolicited Article Guidelines" for the Pursuit of Knowledge are still a work in progress. If you feel you can add more specific guidelines for Deck or Tournament articles, please feel free to send them in.
